Ideally, yes, however if they are firmly in place and are not showing signs of breaking up, we can apply a primer and then the relevant latex compound over the top to achieve the smooth surface that would be then required to apply your choice of flooring.
Yes, they can be installed without any fear of this happening. All of the LVTs that are produced are UV resistant to direct sunlight.
A high-temperature fibre-reinforced adhesive is used to counteract the differences in extreme temperature. In areas that are prone to water spillages (such as bathrooms with children maybe splashing bath water), an epoxy 2-part waterproof adhesive would be used.
We would make sure that any loose boards are secured and then use a 6mm flooring grade plywood (9mm if the floor is badly worn), which is mechanically secured using a collated nail gun. The surface is then suitable for your choice of floor finish.
Obviously everybody has their own personal preference, but LVTs are generally warmer to walk on and are certainly more durable if you have pets and children running around. They are easier to maintain, and if something heavy is dropped on them they are less likely to be damaged.
